Update 13th January 2015: I updated the sample to the new Xamarin.iOS Unified APIs which are required for 64 bits support. See the related blog post here.

The Xamarin team did it! My talk (and all the other Xamarin Evolve talks) are available in video for your viewing pleasure.

The talk can be seen here:

(make sure to select HD video for a better experience).

I also uploaded my slides on OneDrive:

Finally, see this blog post for information about the MVVM Light Toolkit V5 (with Xamarin support) and the source code is also available for download.

Happy viewing!
Laurent

    Hi Laurent,

Thanks very much for your excellent presentation.
I’ve a question about MVVM pattern: in your samples, you bind the View directly to the Model. For example, you use . In my mind, I prefer to map View only to ViewModel object properties, and if necessary, to create a FlowerViewModel with all Flower Object properties (without a Model property). What is the best practices? Is it not dangerous to connect the View directly to the Model?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Good question. There are two schools of thoughts. Personally I think it is a question of pragmatism. Yes it is slightly less clean but wrapping every object is impractical. I like to use the ObservableObject as base class (as opposed to ViewModelBase) because it is lighter weight.

Other business frameworks like Entity Framework, for instance, implement INotifyPropertyChanged on every entity. It is the same kind of scenario.

    Hope it makes sense.
    Cheers

    Hello,

I’ve got one little question. When we only use NavigationService with paramteter in WP app we are able to handle it in OnNavigatedTo method in .xaml.cs file. What about an Android? Is there any equivalent for that?

    Thanks,
    PA
